A little progress

I have made precious little progress so far on the flower pullover for my daughter.

This is the trim for the hem of the back - you knit the trim sideways, cast off the trim, pick up stitches across the top of the trim, and knit the body up from there.

I have never before knit a suprise present for someone with whom I live. I didn't think it would be a big deal - I do most of what little knitting I do at night, after the kids are in bed, so working on this sweater when my daughter's not around shouldn't be that hard, right?

I hadn't realized just how many random moments during the day I reach for my knitting. This morning, while my daughter was eating breakfast (I had eaten already) I went to reach for my knitting. Last night, while she was playing after dinner )and before I geared myself up to clean the kitchen) I went to reach for my knitting. I guess I work on my knitting more during the day than I thought I did! (Don't feel sad, though, picturing me without knitting in my hands - I just picked up the socks that I'm working on instead! )

Maybe I won't be able to get this done before the 25th. Since some nights I can hardly manage to stay awake for an hour before falling asleep on the sofa, (last night I made it through Lost and the first five minutes of The Daily Show - not even an hour, since we triple-fast forward through the ads - yay TiVo!) I'll just give it my best shot, and we'll see how it goes!
