Working the front

I have started the front of the flower pullover sweater. So far it looks just like the back so I'm not gonna bother with pics just yet. I'm hoping that tonight I will get to the flower part of the front, and then I will take some shots of the progress.

Believe it or not, the baby is still sick. He's not vomiting anymore (since Thursday night), and the diarrhea has slowed down (just four dirty diapers today instead of the nine or so on Thursday!) He's still congested, coughing, and I actually had him at the doctor's office again this morning, thinking that he had an ear infection. He doesn't - at least not yet. His ears are red, but the doc said she didn't know if it was the beginning of an infection or the tail end of one. So we have to just wait and see, and if it gets worse then we bring him back in (with yet another $45 co-pay - don't you just love health insurance!) She did send me home with a medicine that is supposed to make his breathing easier - something to open up his airways.

I'm tired of this (as I'm sure you're tired of reading about it). He's usually a pretty happy little guy, but he's definitely not been feeling well and having a sick kid is several extra layers of hassle, which nobody needs. Once again, though, I'm very glad that we are not traveling for the holidays.

I did sneak in a little knitting this afternoon. I got home from the dr's office with the baby to an empty house - the hubby had taken the daughter to Home Depot and Ikea. The baby had fallen asleep in the car on the way home and stayed asleep when I moved him inside. I had a little bit of lunch and then I was torn: I wanted to knit and I wanted to read a book that I was close to finishing. So I propped the book (thank goodness for hardcovers) up on the table and worked on my knitting while I read (thank goodness for reverse stockinette!) I got a good chunk of knitting done and came close to finishing my book - very satisfying!

I'm hoping to get an early start on the day tomorrow - I've got to make cookies to take to the work holiday party - I can't decide between snickerdoodles and biscotti - any votes???

So it's now 10:20 pm and my daughter is still awake - how much knitting on her surprise present do you think I'm going to get done tonight?

Sorry to hear the baby is still sick! Have you tried the BRAT diet? (Bananas, rice cereal, applesauce, and toast/tea) That sometimes slows down the diarhea, though I don't know your baby's age. Good luck, love the updates!
