A cautionary tale for knitters

My boss is a knitter. This is a good thing. Add the fact that she is also a mother and she is exceptionally good at her job, and you can see why she is a pleasure to work for. (I was going to add that she is also a nice person, but the fact that she is a knitter sort of implies that).

She told me something yesterday that both fascinates and horrifies me.

This is 100% true. A friend of my boss, who is also a knitter, was on her way to get together with some knitting friends. For some reason she was holding her size 15 straight knitting needles in her hands as she walked along. She tripped on a curb and fell, stabbing herself in the chest with the knitting needles. She punctured her heart, and had to have emergency open heart surgery. According to my boss she is going to be okay, but can you imagine? So please, please, remember that knitting needles, as innocuous as they seem, are still long, pointed objects.

Me, I use circulars most of the time. But you could still put an eye out.
