Oof

The days around here just fly by. I'm not surprised that I haven't posted in two weeks - the only reason I'm posting now is because it's 5 in the damn morning and I'm up (that's another story altogether!)

I've actually been knitting, but alas have no photos to show for it. I have finished knitting the Estonian Lace Wrap and hope to block it this morning. I'm going to a bridal shower tomorrow and thought I might wear it, if the weather isn't too hot.

We have been as busy as ever at the homestead here. The Hubby was sick last week (sinus infection, in case you were wondering). Nobody got sick this week, although I did take my sewing machine and serger in for service (I got excited because I had a coupon for the cleaning and tuning, forgetting to account for the extra expense of fixing the things that weren't working well - duh. All I can say is it's a good thing I had already vowed not to buy any yarn this summer.) I am looking forward to having machines that work better and am planning to do some sewing this summer.

My second lace project is well underway. I'm using the pink No-No Kitty yarn that I frogged and am making Sivia Harding's Diamond Fantasy Shawl, with beads, inspired by the beautiful job that Cara did with hers. And, just as she did, I'm planning on wearing mine to a wedding later in the summer (same person as the shower I'm going to tomorrow - one of my dearest friends whom I've known since my first year of college!)

I did start a new little project yesterday: I'm hoping to finish a couple of the flower washcloths in cotton chenille as part of the shower gift for tomorrow (nothing like last minute gift making!) If they turn out well I may just make them for everyone I know - I have a huge cone of the yarn, purchased when I used to have a loom.

The children continue to thrive. Buddy is walking - oh boy! He's still mostly crawling, which he does very rapidly, but will occasionally take a few steps at a time. He's climbing more than ever - up on Punkin's bed, and up to anything he can reach. he's taken to using his four-wheeled ride on scooter as a starting point to reach up higher - that's my kid, using a wheeled object as a step stool.

Part of why I haven't blogged lately is I've been trying to get things done earlier in the morning, so I don't have a last minute crunch trying to get out the door. See, I work afternoons, so I'm home with the kids in the morning. How well I use that time affects the rest of the day, and lately I've been using the time while Buddy is napping to get lunches made, dinner prepped, laundry folded, etc. Plus I've been walking every morning first thing after Buddy wakes up, so I've pretty much squeezed out the time that I used to use for blogging. I'll have to work on that.

On the plus side, the walking every morning has been working, and I feel stronger, have more energy, and have lost some weight. My results aren't as impressive as Lolly's, but I'm not spending two hours each day at the gym. She's keeping me inspired, she's doing such a great job of improving her health, not just losing weight.

Well, I've done it again - another post with no photos. Someday, I promise!

Oh, and it's come to my attention that Blogger has been choking on comments - if you have posted a comment in the last month that hasn't shown up on the blog please drop me an email at marie AT loopie DOT com. I'd like to get a sense of what the scope of the problem is and maybe try to figure out what's going on. I still want to switch to another blog hosting software, but I don't know when that's going to happen.

Happy Weekend everyone!
