Talking about Walking

I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying being part of Runagogo. I've never been one of those people who embarks on a weight loss or exercise regime with other people - it would have just been somebody else to let down when I failed to meet whatever ridiculous goal I set for myself (can you tell I don't have a great history with these issues? I remember sitting in a high school assembly where we were learning about the dangers of eating disorders. At some point during the talk we had to answer some questions posed by the speaker. Each yes question equaled a point, and the more points you had the higher at risk you were. I was sitting with my friend Jill, and being high school girls we of course compared scores. Hers was low - in the low teens at the most, well within the "healthy attitudes" range. Mine was in the high twenties or something - which I of course made her swear to keep secret!)

In any case (to reel myself back in from my tangent), I have been enjoying Runagogo more because I feel I have much healthier attitudes about food and exercise at this point in my life. I started exercising regularly last year and for the first time in my life I'm paying attention to how much better I feel when I exercise, not just how many pounds I want to lose. It's a good thing.

On knitting news, I picked up yarn for a project that has to be finished by Friday. Also, the project that I thought had a deadline of this weekend doesn't need to be ready until next weekend (although it has to be sent to the east coast, so it needs to be done sooner). So I have a lot of knitting and not much time, but I'm enjoying myself. I promise to try to take pictures before giving these things away - I always forget to do that!

Wow - I kept that secret so well I forgot about it entirely...

It's funny - I don't think I had a particularly healthy body image as a teen - I would say rather that I had NO body image. I sort of just didn't think about it: not in any high-minded "I'm ignoring it" way, more in a "What? You mean I have a body? Oh - yeah. That thing that rides horses and moves my brain over to where the books are and occasionally insists that running around the yard with the dog is a good thing. Yeah, that. Whatever."

I wish I could get that back!

The project you had to finish by Friday was for my baby, right?! Thanks so much for the baby sweater. I love it and the baby will love it too! I love the pretty technique you did for the row changing. It's so nice. Thank you!!!
